English Arts and History Teacher (Early Elementary Microschool)

Mulberry Academy, a progressive microschool and learning community in Astana,
located on the campus of Nazarbayev University, is seeking a dynamic and
innovative Language Arts and History teacher for a cross-age learning classroom
from ages 6 to 10 years of age (early elementary grades 1-4). We are looking for an
educator who is passionate about fostering a love for reading, writing, and
historical inquiry through engaging, project-based learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum that
  integrates language arts and history/social studies.
• Be comfortable teaching in a flexible, small, mixed-age classroom.
• Design and facilitate interdisciplinary projects that allow students to explore
  diverse texts, perspectives, and historical events.
• Utilize Phonics and other research-based strategies to support students'
  growth in reading comprehension, writing skills, and oral communication.
• Assist in developing individual learning activities based on each student’s
  gifts, talents, abilities, social and emotional needs, and learning preferences.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes critical
  thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in education, language arts, history, or related
  field AND/OR minimum 1-2 years of experience teaching language arts and
  history to elementary level students.
• Strong content knowledge in language arts and history/social studies.
• Knowledge of general curriculum and instruction.
• Interest in project-based learning, differentiated instruction, and assessment
  practices.
• Must be receptive to understanding evidence-based child development and
  gentle approaches to support learning in the classroom including
  collaborative problem-solving.
• Must be willing to learn and open to supervision as well as engage in
  professional development.
• Some familiarity with gifted and talented education highly desirable.
• Fluency in English required.
